Perfection is paralyzing. I’m tired of waiting for the right time. If I had waited for the perfect time to make Missing Pieces I never would have made it. Everything worth doing involves taking a leap of faith and trusting that you’ll figure it out. I’ve been toying with the layout of this site for months, trying to figure out how to communicate the exact feeling I want to communicate, but it’s going nowhere. I’m not a website designer. I want this website to be simple and to the point. I want it to be a place where we here at B Team! can share our work and our thoughts and give everyone an insight into our process. So we’re just going for it. We’re launching the site at its most barebones, and we will build it up in real time with everyone.
Before B Team! was a production company it was a group chat, and before we made feature films we made sketches in our college dorm. B Team! has never been about money or exclusivity. Over the years we’ve made movies, music, sketches, drawings, animations, poetry, essays, etc… We do it because we love creating stuff with our friends, and we never want that to change.
I’ve spent a lot of time lately ruminating on my relationship with social media, and mostly the thoughts have come back negative. You’ll see me on it because I have to be. We have a new movie in the works and for the time being I think being an artist just means being active on socials. My hope though is that as I do that work for the sake of my art, I can continue to figure out ways to actually show up in the world that are more meaningful to me. I think there has to be a happy medium between completing cataloging my life on socials and hiding away in a cabin somewhere to make my art. This site is one attempt at finding that. I’ll be posting thoughts, song/movie recs and updates on the process of making my next feature film, Actors. My other B Team! co-founders will be hopping on when they have something to share. Hopefully we can even get some thoughts, art, etc… from you guys. My hope is that this can become a sort of digital scrapbook. So I’m done waiting, I’m posting the first entry, and we can figure it out from here. ~ Cameron Andrews
